Engineered Hardwood Flooring You Can Trust

We know you have hundreds.. okay let’s be real, thousands of options when shopping for hardwood floors, and those options can easily become overwhelming. Flooring is a detail in your home that is constantly used so typically something durable is a must.

Regal Hardwoods is an engineered hardwood flooring manufacturer that manufactures a beautiful and durable floor.

But what is engineered hardwood? Lately we’ve noticed people are confused on what engineered hardwood is . They think its cheaply made, easily scratched, and isn’t “real wood”, we’re here to tell you that a high quality well constructed engineered hardwood (like Regal Hardwoods) will last a lifetime!

What is the difference of solid and engineered hardwood?

The difference between solid and engineered hardwood is its core. Solid hardwood is one solid piece of ¾” wood milled with a tongue and groove. Engineered hardwood has layers of wood stacked in a cross-grain configuration and topped with a wood veneer- an actual (thinner) piece of solid hardwood.

Due to the dimensional stability of the core, engineered hardwood is a better choice when wanting a wider planked hardwood than 3 1/4” wide. Solid hardwood is a great choice when you are trying to match up with existing floor height or love the look of a narrower planked hardwood.

Engineered hardwood can be installed in more areas of the home than solid hardwood. Engineered can be installed in a variety of methods (nailed/stapled/glued/floated) over plywood subfloor and concrete subfloor. Solid hardwood can only be installed nailed down on a plywood subfloor.

Now that we’ve defined the difference between solid and engineered hardwood, lets look at what makes Regal an engineered hardwood flooring you can trust.

Quality In Every Aspect

Regal’s highest priority when manufacturing their engineered hardwoods is to provide quality all the way through. They don’t believe in cutting corners, but rather taking the time to do it correctly and give you a floor that far exceeds your expectations. All of the manufacturing of the floors is done in house, from core construction, to veneer, to finish to even the designing of their boxes.

THE CORE

Remember that ply layer core we mentioned above? The harder the wood is for the core, the more dimensionally stable it is. While some companies use a soft lightweight wood like poplar to save on shipping costs, Regal uses a Baltic Birch for added stability.

THE WOOD VENNER

This is the visible part of the floor that you walk on after installation. For starters, Regal has skilled craftsman that take the time to hand distress each pice of hardwood flooring in a way that is uniquely fitting to each individual plank. Other companies will run their planks through machines to add the distressing, but this is one more way that regal takes the time to create a quality product they are proud of.

THE FINISH

Aluminum oxide is the second hardest element next to diamonds. It is often used as an additive in a urethane finish to make it more scratch resistant. Regal takes this process a step further and introduces nanotechnology to the aluminum oxide finish, splicing down the molecules even smaller for a better covering and more flexible finish with more particles of aluminum oxide creating a stronger and clearer finish.

There are 8 coats of finish applied to their 3/8”thick products and 10 coats of finish applied to their 1/2” thick products for maximum protection.

Their 3/8” thick products have 8 coats of finish applied giving them a 50 year finish warranty, and their 1/2” thick products have 10 coats of finish applied giving them a lifetime finish warranty.

Looks For Everyone

Regal’s visuals are unlike any other. Their attention to detail in the manufacturing process is evident with how beautiful these floors are. With 8 collections in a variety of species, finish colors, and distressing levels there’s sure to be a regal floor for you!
