Springfield Flooring Trends for 2025: What's Hot and What's Staying Strong

Choosing the right flooring for your home is a big deal, and we’re here to help make it easier. Whether you're updating a room, renovating your entire home, or building from scratch, it's exciting to explore what's trending in the flooring world. As your local flooring experts, we've been keeping an eye on the latest styles and innovations, and we’re ready to share what we’re seeing for 2025.

So, what’s trending in Springfield for the year ahead? Let’s dive into the hottest flooring styles, what’s staying strong, and how we’re bringing these trends to life right here in Springfield.

1. Hardwood Floors: Richer Tones, More Texture, and Bigger Planks

When it comes to hardwood floors, we’re seeing a big shift in both color and texture. Gone are the days of super light, European oak tones—homeowners in Springfield are embracing richer, caramel-colored hardwoods with natural texture and grain. These new styles add depth and warmth to a room, making it feel more inviting and grounded.

One wood species that’s gaining serious traction is hickory. Known for being our hardest domestic wood (rated an 1820 on the Janka scale) and unique character, hickory is perfect for homeowners who want something that stands out and feels one-of-a-kind.

And speaking of standing out, wide planks are still a major trend here in Springfield, with most new hardwood floors averaging around 7” wide. This clean, contemporary look makes any room feel more open and airy.

While in Las Vegas for Surfaces, one of the largest flooring markets in the nation, we saw some jaw-dropping extra-large planks—over 12 feet tall and nearly 16” wide! These bold planks are making waves in luxury homes, and we think they’re going to become more popular here in Springfield as well.

2. Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) & Laminate: Durability Meets Style

As many of you know, Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) has been a popular option for homeowners, but we’re predicting an even bigger shift toward laminate flooring in 2025. Why? The Melamine finish on the laminates in our showroom are proving to be more scratch resistant than a 20 mil wear layer on a luxury vinyl plank. Add in the fact that the laminate floors we carry are waterproof and all in all you’ve got the perfect floors for active lifestyles, kids, and pets.

One laminate brand we’re loving right now is Karastan’s BelleLuxe. Their high-resolution imaging gives laminate floors the same beautiful look as real wood or stone, but without the maintenance. If you want to dive deeper into why we recommend Karastan laminates, check out our full blog on the topic here!

In terms of colors, we’re still seeing the same trend as we’re seeing in hardwood floors: a shift from light, clean lines to warmer tones with great texture.

LVP is also staying on-trend with defined bevels and registered embossed finishes, which create a more realistic, textured feel underfoot—perfect for homeowners who want the look of hardwood with the scratch resistance and waterproof benefits of a luxury vinyl plank.

3. Tile Trends: Bold Veining, Large Format, and Color Drenching

How amazing is this slab install one of our crews installed last week?! We can’t wait to share the final images soon.

Tile is one of the most versatile flooring options out there, and for 2025, it’s all about bold veining and large-format slabs. These dramatic patterns are perfect for creating eye-catching designs in kitchens and bathrooms. When paired together, they make a huge visual impact that’s hard to beat.

We’re also seeing a huge movement toward color drenching—using bold, vibrant tiles in saturated hues to create a cohesive, striking look throughout a room.

Springfield homeowners are moving away from traditional white subway tiles in favor of organic, warm tones with textured edges.

And don’t forget about Schluter—we’re expecting the trend of blending these color accents with your tiles to stay strong, providing a clean and cohesive look.

4. Carpet Trends: Texture Is Everything

In the world of carpet, one thing’s for sure: texture is the star. The trend for textured carpets isn’t going anywhere, and we’re continuing to see all-loop carpets made to imitate wool. These carpets not only add a cozy, luxurious feel to a space but are also incredibly durable and stain resistant, especially in SmartStrand fibers, which are perfect for homes with pets and kids.

At Surfaces, we saw a lot of chunky, brown-toned wool carpets with incredible texture. These bold textures give your space a tactile experience that adds both comfort and style.
