We started the month with a special kick off event that took place at our showroom on August 1st. We hosted a blood drive, had live flooring presentations, grilled out, and enjoyed spending the day with previous customers, builders, designers, friends, family, and even new friends who visited our showroom for the first time to show their support. Cowhides are tanned leather with the hair kept on. They are a safe by-product of animals being used for other purposes. When a tannery receives a hide, the first thing they do is wash it. Typically in the leather tanning process, after the hide is washed the hair would be removed, but because these hides are being used for decoration the hair will be kept on and the tanning process will continue. Once the hide is tanned, trimming takes place to ensure an even look, and the cowhide is ready for it’s forever home.
